Carla- the Principal of 'Stardust Dance Academy' started dancing at the age of three and later began her theatre appearances at the age of nine, joining the renowned 'Betty Fox Stage School'. It is here that Carla's performing career began. She thoroughly enjoyed her ballet, tap and modern classes and soon after joining she was auditioning and gaining places in productions in theatres such as the Birmingham Hippodrome, Reptorary Theatre and The Birmingham Alexandra. Her current theatre work includes 'The King and I', 'The Wizard of Oz' and 'The Sound of Music'. Carla has toured the country dancing, singing and acting in productions such as 'Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' with Darren Day and Phillip Schofield. Also performing in front of Princess Anne in the Royal Variety Performance on several occasions in London. Her love of dance has lead Carla to gain her BA Honours in 'Dance and Professional Practice' at Coventry University. Here she performed, choreographed and discovered her love and passion for contemporary dance. It was this talent and passion that led Carla to strive towards teaching others. In 2002 Carla formed Animated Movement Group later expanding and forming Animated Dance Academy. Carla is a qualified gymnastic coach with the British Gymnastic Association and is now teaching gym in schools. Recently she has choreographed pieces for Key Stage 1 children and platformed her work in local dance festivals and at many other local theatres. Thus she was awarded a schools recognition award for her achievement in the success of young children's dance in the West Midlands. Carla has trained a variety of students for medal tests and performances. She has choreographed for shows including appearances at the Queens Theatre and Her Majesty's Theatre, London. In recent years our Academy has gone from strength to strenght, continuously expanding. More recently expanding to new neigbouring areas around the Midlands under the new name of 'Stardust Dance Academy'. This thriving dance academy will be offering children of all ages the opportunity to perform in many performances including the Mardis Gras at the Royal Albert Hall, London in May 2008. Carla is very proud of all her students and would like to make all their dreams come true. |
